Horseshoe Beach sits on a point of land jutting into the Gulf at the end of County Road 351, about 19 miles southwest of Cross City. It's a small town built almost entirely around fishing and boating, with canals running between the streets and sunsets over open water at the end of Main Street.
About 35 properties are for sale, from about $65,000 to $850,000, with an average asking price near $250,000. Much of the inventory is land, much of it on the water, along with a smaller number of homes.
The land was once owned by lumber companies. In 1935, C.C. Douglas and Burton Butler bought it and offered each resident the lot they lived on for $10. Residents incorporated the Town of Horseshoe Beach in 1963.
Horseshoe Beach sat in the path of three hurricanes in 13 months in 2023 and 2024, and many homes were damaged or lost. Several listings are cleared lots or as-is homes, which can be good value for buyers ready to build elevated. Check flood zone, permits and insurance costs early.
